Research description:

Currently, I am conducting research on how the depictions of monstrosity in Bram Stoker's Dracula are characterized as reflections of emerging xenophobic sentiments of the 1890s, and how these depictions intersect with, are fueled by, and change due to the political climates of the 20th and 21st centuries. My previous research has centered on themes of imperialism and gender in H. Rider Haggard's She.

Advice:

Research can be anything you make it out to be, from studying samples in a lab to discussing literature and art! Be creative, be brave, and be open to discovering something new! There are countless opportunities to get started in undergraduate research at UIUC, and the OUR is there to help!

Request a meeting:

Schedule a meeting with me to talk about how to find research opportunities, how to balance research and coursework, how to come up with project ideas, and more!
