If you are interested in having a Community-Academic Scholar on your team for Summer 2021, the deadline to submit projects has been EXTENDED to Jan. 6. If you are interested in working with more than one scholar, please complete a form for each project in which you plan to involve a scholar.

Eligible research projects should:

  • Involve an established partnership with a community organization in Champaign County. Community organizations should be nonprofits or NGOs, and could include health agencies, summer programs for children, schools, organizations serving special populations, etc.
  • Address an existing need within the community related to health, poverty, or social inequality.
  • Investigate a specific research question (projects that include only a service component without accompanying research are not eligible).
  • Guarantee a position for an undergraduate research assistant in Summer 2021.

Preference will be given to projects that allow undergraduate scholars to directly interact (in-person or virtually) with individuals served by the community partner.
