Monetary donations are accepted as cash or check. A receipt will be issued for each monetary donation. Money will be used to purchase toys/gift for children who have not been sponsored or to purchase any additional materials to be donated to the human services agencies (e.g., wrapping paper).

Suggested Toys for Holiday Toy Drive

The following list contains suggestions of toys appropriate for gifting. However, as long as the donated toy is age-appropriate, donors are not limited to this list:

  • Books, board, cloth, and plastic (5-9 yrs old)
  • Stuffed animals (5-8 yrs old)
  • Puppets (5-10 yrs old)
  • Light-up or Musical young child toys (5-10 yrs old)
  • Baby Dolls (5-9 yrs old)
  • Barbie Dolls (7-11 yrs old)
  • Big cars, trucks, buses (5-12 yrs old)
  • Balls (5-10 yrs old)
  • Plastic Keys (5-7 yrs old)
  • Wooden puzzles (5-12 years old)
  • Toy Instruments; drums, tambourine, xylophone (5-11 yrs old)
  • Gift Certificates to buy music or accessories (10-17 years old)
  • Jewelry and watches (12-17 yrs old)
  • Bath/Body Lotion/Perfume/Hair-care products (12-17 years old)
  • Art supplies (RoseArt kits, paint supplies, craft kits) (5-17 yrs old)
  • Action Figures (age-appropriate- no small pieces) (5-11 yrs old)
  • Scrapbooking kits or materials (12-17 yrs old)
  • Craft Kits (Jewelry making, Macrame, Weaving) (12-17 yrs old)
  • Sports equipment (basketballs, baseballs, footballs) (10-17 yrs old)
  • Board or Card Games (Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, Sorry, Trouble, Uno, Skip-Bo, Scattegories, Chess, Checkers, Scrabble). (7-17 yrs old)
  • Remote control cars, trucks (10-15 yrs old)
  • Toy farms, tractors, garages, etc. (7-12 yrs old)
  • Hand-held games (12-17 yrs old)
  • DVDs: Baby Einstein, Bob the Builder, Blues Clues, Cars, Dora the Explorer, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Play Skool, Thomas the Train, Batman, Spiderman, Harry Potter,  Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Curious George, Sesame Street, etc.
  • Gift cards (Walmart, Book Stores, Best Buy, McDonald’s, Kohl’s, Target, Illini Union Bookstore, Illini Union Tech Zone, etc.)

DO NOT BUY:

  • NO TOYS WITH SMALL PIECES
  • NO VIOLENCE ENCOURAGEMENT
    • e.g., guns or figures with guns, swords, laser swords, etc.
  • NOTHING SUGGESTING RACIAL/GENDER STEREOTYPES OR SUBSTANCE USE
