Bridging our Worlds: Hispanic Heritage Month in the Classroom
A professional development workshop for K-12 educators and librarians. Illinois K-12 educators are eligible to receive ISBE Professional Development Hours (PDH).
Latinxs have contributed to U.S. society in multiple and dynamic ways. This workshop centers Latinx histories and their relationship with the broader U.S. culture. We will collectively explore the contemporary significance and legacy of Hispanic Heritage Month through a Latina/o/x Studies framework. K-12 educators will return to their classrooms with a critical understanding of Latinx history, the importance of Latinx representation in education, and resources to further implement Latinxs materials in the classroom.
