Research description:

As an undergraduate research assistant in the Qiao Lab, I have performed several experimental research techniques such as PCR and gel electrophoresis, fetal and neonatal ovary culture, mouse husbandry, genotyping, and other cytological work. In particular, I received a MCB Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) to investigate the role of ML216 with BLM helicase in DNA repair pathways. Alongside that, I am responsible for presenting review papers related to my experiments every week.

Advice:

There is no rush when it comes to finding research because it’s really important to research things that you enjoy. Most importantly, although college academics and research are important, remember to make time for yourself and have as much fun on campus!

Request a meeting:

If you have any questions about getting involved with research in biology or balancing science with journalism, send me an email and we can set up a meeting. Additionally, I often get questions about my major so please don’t hesitate to ask me questions about anything!
